A LETTER TO MOM DUKES

Hey Ma,

It's ya babygirl-- long time no see
Just want to let u know how it's going with me
well.......

You got four beautiful grandbabes, they all look like you
got ur positive outlook on life and some of ur attitude too
CONFIDENT

But me?.....It seemz not so much
I can't seem to bring shine to anyhting I touch
my focus is off--my mind is cluttered with stress
words being supressed-- feelings not being expressed
i'm rest......less

As far as our fam, well, we've grown apart
there's no love lost but it's tearing up my heart
My sisters and I---our relationship is on hold
I can see a shiny glitter but trust me, it ain't gold
it's broken glass from our family picture of old
animosity comin forth, dislike and jealousy stand bold
and me.......i'm cold

the black sheep of tha family--can't seem to get right
surrounded by darkness---no source of light
But Ma, just so you know, it ain't all bad
i got fam ridin with me i never thought I had
it's sad how friends can be closer than blood
friendz like the two I have....alcohol and bud
....................and my best friend of all Mudd

i got people i never met holdin' me down too
brothers and a sister in tha form of a crew

but that does'nt stop me from reminiscing about your smile
i got a photographic memory with thoughts of you on file
and while i sit back and think about tha crazy shit i'd done as a kid
i apologize for any hurt i ever caused you for what i did
forgive me for not trying to keep you here
but Ma, my mind went blank---couldnt think past my tears

I'm sorry..............

forgive me for not being a success
for not puttin forth my all and doing my best
for not listening when you would share your wisdom and words
for my attitude which at most times was absurd

i wish i could have made you proud of me
wish i could become half the woman you were known to be
there's alot more that i could add to this list
but none more than Ma, u are sincerely missed
